Living Room E-Design Before & After

Do you remember this E-Design that I posted about way back in May? I finally have an "after" picture to show you of the space.

Here is the "before" picture of my client's living room...

Here is the design plan I came up with for her space...

And here is the "After"

One of the things I love about E-Design is that even though my clients never see me face to face, it is still a collaboration. I actually speak to my E-Design clients on the phone several times during the design process. In this case, my client was able to take my overall design and space plan for the room and complete the design at her own pace. She also had the liberty to switch out a few pieces of the design for items that she already owned or found more cost effective. E-Design is an amazing tool. If you have ever considered using an E-Design service, you should. I think you would be so happy.

Here is the "Before and After" again...
I love all how fresh and bright it is now. Notice the brown leather sofa in a light and bright room? Yes, it is possible. :)  My client did a great job putting it all together!

Quick Change...Gold Dipped Vase

Happy Monday Lovely People! I hope you all had a great weekend. We spent time at soccer games and watching lots of football. It was not a great football week in our home. Both our Utah Utes and SF 49ers were handed losses this week. Since we are a big football family, that was a huge downer for us. We are hoping next weekend's games will keep us in higher spirits. In between all the football watching, I managed to make a quick change to a little vase I have sitting on my bedside table. The clear vase was just fine the way it was, but since I have an obsession with gold, I couldn't resist glamming it up with one of my favorite crafting tools, Rub n' Buff, and some painters tape.

I simply taped of the bottom of the vase with painters tape and applied the Antique Gold Rub n' Buff with a white cloth. The whole thing took about 5 minutes and I love how it added a bit more sparkle to my bedside table. I honestly want to apply Rub n' Buff to so many things around my house. I am, however, practicing self control in order to prevent myself from ending up with a home full of "Rubbed n' Buffed" gold items! Have you done any quick changes to your home lately? Please share!

My New Home: Master Bedroom...a work in progress

Hello Everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start. Today I wanted to give you a little look at my Master Bedroom. This room is most definitely a work in progress. It is S-L-O-W-L-Y coming together. I keep telling myself that we've only been in our new home for 3 months and that I don't need to have every room done right away. Still, the Master Bedroom is such an important space to me. I really want to have it complete within the next month or so. We will see...

The "bed side" of the room is starting to take shape. I am in LOVE with my new upholstered bed. Isn't it pretty? I still need to add drapery to all the windows ( I'm trying to decide on just the right fabric), and I also want to add a throw to the foot of the bed.

The other side of the room is, literally, a mess.

I have big plans for the space above the fireplace. I want to add a wood treatment above the mantel that mimics the board and batten on the bed wall. I also need to hang some more artwork...maybe a DIY? The bench needs a couple of fabulous accent pillows and the mantel needs to be styled with accessories. Lastly, I want to add a cabinet to the right of the mantel by my wingback chair. The cabinet is a necessity to house all of the media components associated with having a TV in the bedroom. Like I said, this room is a definite work in progress. I am looking forward to the day that it is pulled together and I can show it to you!

5 Home Decor Workhorses

Last week I shared an Instagram photo of some pillow covers for a client project I am working on. My wonderful blogging friend, Amanda from the blog Amanda Carol at Home, left me this comment on that post...

"LOVING all the new things going on in your place- Betwixt is one of my favorite go-to fabrics-totally a work horse in any space. Cant wait to see more!!"

Her comment about the Betwixt fabric being a work horse (which I completely concur it is) really got me thinking. There are some home decor items that seem to get the job done every time, in any space. They are tried and true. Some may think that these items are overused and trite, but I think that the reason you see them over and over again is because they work. They work in traditional spaces and contemporary spaces. They pack a punch and can "make a room." They transcend styles and outlive trends. Here are 5 home decor workhorses that I love and use...often.

Did you notice that some of my example pictures incorporate more than one of these trends? Workhorses, I tell you! Do you have a home decor item that you never fails you? I would love to hear about it.

Girls' Rooms Progress

Happy Monday! I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. I spent part of the weekend working on my Girls' rooms. Here's a look at some of the progress made...

I finished giving this little table a spray paint makeover and added it to Miss M's room.

It was just a blah black before, but the trellis pattern is oh so lovely. I adore the mint green color it is now. I used Krylon's Catalina Mist spray paint. There will be one of these on each side of her bed. You can also see one of the DIY ombre prints I made for her. The one on the other side of her bed says "sweet" :)
Obviously, there is a lot of styling to be done still, but I am still in the process of gathering accessories and moving things around. It is slow going...

We also got the Rifle Paper Co. "artwork" hung. I found the blush colored mattes at a local craft store, and I knew they would be perfect. I am going to change out the frame on the heart print to match the others...just gotta find time to go buy it!

Miss J's room also got a new addition. We made her a window cornice board, like her big sister's, using this fun new fabric from Premiere Prints. I love the Ikat dots...a fun twist on a classic pattern.

It is hard to tell in the picture below, but her walls are a very pale blue. I love the hot pink paired with it.

I'm hoping to have these rooms pulled together enough to show you pictures of the WHOLE rooms, in the next week or so. They wont be complete, but hopefully you'll see my vision for my girls' room slowly coming to fruition!

Back to Life...Back to Reality!

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. We are back in full swing around here. Yesterday was the official first day of school. Both girls are in full day Elementary school this year and my little man started his first year of Pre-School. I can't believe that I have reached the point in my life that all three of my children are in school. I have heard people say over and over again, that the time while your children are small goes by so quickly and that it as if they blinked and their children grew up. I totally get it now. My babies are not babies anymore. It hurts my heart just a wee bit when I think about it. Anyone else feel the same? I'm guessing that all mothers feel it to a certain extent.

Okay, before I start crying, here's a look at some of what's been going on around here and a peak of what's to come...

1. I'm happy to report that the "Family Week of Fun" was a huge success! It was the perfect way to celebrate the last week of summer.

2. A table, pillow covers, and a huge, gorgeous urn. All of which will be installed in a client's home later this week. Pictures to come...

3. A couple of new items for Miss M's room.  DIY artwork, using these (she loves dogs), and a little accent table that got a facelift.

4. My new laundry room lacks organization, functionality and style...but not for long. I am going to fix all that! Details of this little makeover coming soon!

Do you have any laundry room organization tips or tricks that you love? If so, please share. I would love to hear what is working for you!
