Ch Ch Ch Changes!

I mentioned on Monday that there were some things going on around here that have thrown us into a tailspin. Well, the big reason for that tailspin is that we have decided to put our home up for sale!! I still can't believe that we are doing it! We have been in this home for six years. We had it built from the ground up. I brought two of my babies home to this house. This home has been a constant labor of love for me. Working on it and fine tuning it, until it became exactly what I envisioned it to become. That is where it is now. I love this home. I feel blessed to live here. Our whole family does.

So that being said, one has to wonder, why in the world are we selling it? Let me start by saying, that we have a very faith centered family. We try to live our lives in accordance with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Our choices are directly influenced by our belief that our Father in Heaven has a specific plan for our little family and we try to live our lives in a way that may allow us to be in tune to his will for us. As a result of this, my hubby and I have felt for some time, that this house is not to be our permanent home. We have not known where we will go or when the time would be to move, but we have relied on the fact that we would "know" when it is time for us to move on. Over the course of the past few weeks, there have been some things that have happened (nothing bad, all really good :)) that have led us to believe that the time may be now. So, we are going with it. We put our house up for sale last week, knowing that selling a home in this market is an uphill battle. We feel confident in knowing that whatever happens, whether our home sells or not, it is part of the plan for our family and an experience we must go through. I ask you, my blog family, to remember us in your prayers, if you feel so inclined. This is an exciting, and yet, an emotional journey. We are anxious to see what the future holds for us. Some of you are probably wondering where we are going. We have a couple of options we are looking at. If anything happens, I will definitely let you know. No matter which option we choose, we will not be moving very far from where we are now. We love our town and our community.

So there you have it. Life is crazy...crazy good. We are selling our home ourselves, so if any of you have done this, I would love some advice on the best way to market our home without it being listed on the MLS. And if you or anyone you know is looking for a home in Davis County, UT, you can contact me at thefamilyroomdesign@gmail.com for more information. The winds of change are definitely stirring around here!

PS - This is also the reason why you haven't seen any progress updates on my home office makeover! :)

Design Destination - Ann Sacks Tile

Do you know about Ann Sacks? If you do, you probably love her as much as I do. If you don't, allow me to introduce you to her. Well, at least to her tile...

Ah - mazing, right! Well, if your not already drooling...check out some more of Ann Sacks' tile in action.

Like I said, ah-mazing! It is so much more than tile, it is art. It evokes emotion and makes a statement. Pretty fabulous for some glass and porcelain. If I ever have the chance to build my ultimate dream home, you better believe Ann Sacks' tile will be making an appearance somewhere in it! A girl can dream, right? Are you an Ann Sacks tile fan like I am?

Blogs to Love: Emerson Grey Designs

Happy Monday everyone! I've said it again and again, but one of the most wonderful benefits of blogging is all the wonderful people you get to "meet" through your blog. I was perusing Pinterest a few weeks ago (let's be honest, I'm always perusing Pinterest), when I came across this fabulous design board for a little girl's coral and navy nursery...

Coral and Navy

I immediately clicked through the pin to find the source and was introduced to Bri Myosa and her blog, Emerson Grey Designs. After spending 13 years in the juvenile design industry, Bri has recently started her own design business, specializing in nurseries and kids rooms. I spent some time looking around her blog and continued to find design boards for nurseries and kids rooms that were fun, unique, pulled together and on trend. I sent Bri a quick email to let her know that I was happy to have found her blog and how much I enjoyed her designs. She emailed back and a new "blog friendship" has been formed. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to introduce Bri and her blog to you!

Here are a few more of my favorite designs from her blog...

Posh Tots Nursery

Bubble Gum Popping

I Left My Heart in SF

Chic and Fairly Cheap

Aren't her designs incredible? I would use any of these boards to redesign one of my kids' rooms!
Head on over to Emerson Grey Designs to see more of Bri's designs and give her some love while you are there!

One more thing...I want to apologize for last week's erratic posting schedule and the lack of a post on Friday. Not only did we have Internet problems last week, but there are some other "big" things going on around here that have thrown things in a tailspin! I'll share details as soon as I can, but until then...be patient with me. I know you guys will, because you guys are the best!

Design Destination - Oval Windows

Yeah, the internet is back! I can start feeling normal again!

I was browsing through some of my design inspiration files the other day and I noticed a reoccurring theme in many of the spaces I love...oval windows. I love how oval windows can give home exteriors and interiors a touch of sophistication and whimsy at the same time.

If we ever have the chance to build another home, I'll definitely be incorporating an oval window or two! So tell me, do you love the look of oval windows?

Technology Troubles

Sorry for the lack of a post today. We have wireless Internet in our home, and it has been out all day long. I am writing this on my iPhone and my finger already hurts. I'm hoping the wireless company can solve the problem and I can get a post up ASAP. Thanks for bearing with me. Is it sad that I feel helpless when I can't get on the Internet from my Mac? Sigh.

E-Design Board: Master Bedroom

As I mentioned in last week's post, Lane, the winner of my E-Design Giveaway, asked me to come up with a design for her master bedroom. I sent her the completed design over the weekend and I am happy to say that she sent me an email back saying she absolutely loves all of it! Yeah! As part of my E-Design services, I offer one revision after the initial design is sent over, in order to make any changes that my client may want. It is so gratifying when clients get the initial design and don't want to change a thing about it!

Here is the design I came up with for Lane and her husband...

I really love the navy, aqua and green color combination, that was inspired by the fabric of a chair Lane recently had reupholstered. Now that she has approved the design, I will send her over a source list and a room plan. She will have everything she needs to create a comfortable, fresh master bedroom that she and her hubby can enjoy!

Here's a little reminder of how her bedroom currently looks...

Hopefully she will send me some pictures of the completed room so I can share them with you!
