Shop This Room with Kathy Kuo Home

Hello! Today I am back to tell you about one of my new favorite online retailers for home furnishings and accessories, Kathy Kuo Home. I was first introduced to Kathy Kuo Home when they reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to collaborate with them. Let me be honest, I get many requests for collaborations from vendors and retailers, but I rarely, if ever, agree to them. After taking the time to familiarize myself with Kathy Kuo Home and upon seeing the amazing style of Kathy Kuo herself, I knew I couldn't refuse. Kathy Kuo is a talented designer who has worked has worked her magic on spaces for design enthusiasts and celebrities alike. Best of all, it is all available to you, allowing you to bring a designer look right into your home. You just have to love that!

Local Client Project Reveal: Budget Friendly Family Room

Hello there! I hope you have all had a wonderful week! Today I am back with another local client reveal. I know I owe you a follow up post from my basement family room reveal, but I couldn't wait to show you this family room makeover that I recently completed. When I met with my client she explained that she wanted to update and brighten up her family room. That is a common request amongst my clients! We went over her needs and wants for the space and came up with a design plan. The thing I love most about this project is that the design is completely budget friendly. All of the items were bought from big box stores and online. These days there are so many affordable and accessible options for home decor and furniture out there. I loved being able to transform the space using some of these resources. Here is a look at what the space looked like the first time I saw it...

BEFORE:

And here is what it looks like now...

AFTER:

One of the biggest changes to the room was the addition of the board and batten millwork to the television wall. My client's husband is very handy and he installed and painted the wall himself, which saved them quite a bit of money. He did a great job, it turned out fantastic! I also had him paint the blue fireplace wall to match the paint in the rest of the room. The mantle was painted white as well, helping create a cohesive feel to the woodwork in the room. We addressed the awkward fireplace niche by covering it up with a large piece of canvas art. I am not a fan of those niches and I like the clean and simple look the artwork and candles provide. We then replaced all of the furniture and accessories in the room with items purchased from local stores and online on popular retail sites. The family room is now reflective of the young vibrant family who lives in the house!

I get to get all gussied up and attend a charity gala tonight with my hubs. It's always fun to pull out the LBD and some heels! I hope all of you have a great weekend!

West Elm City Creek Pre-Opening Event

West Elm has finally made its way to Utah and I couldn't be more excited! They have opened a store in the fabulous City Creek Center in Salt Lake City. The store officially opens to the public today, but I was lucky enough to score an invite to the Pre-Opening Event last night. So, I gathered a few of my favorite girls, and off we went for some fun, food and tons of West Elm eye candy!

I didn't snap nearly as many pictures as I would have liked to. I was too busy mingling and checking out the merchandise, but here are few from the event that I did manage to take...

I loved all of the pillows and mercury glass in this display. West Elm is bringing back mercury glass in a big way this fall/winter.

A beautiful tablescape with mercury glass and gold accents. The gold flatware is on my current wish list.

I loved this ottoman and the large silver tray.

These colored vases are gorgeous in person. I might have picked up an assortment of 4 of them for myself. :)

This wood honeycomb wall art is a focal point in the store and hangs behind the checkout counter.

Me and my girls posing with the West Elm hearts at the event's photo booth.

It was such a fun night. The store is absolutely gorgeous! I was so impressed with all of the displays. If I had unlimited funds, I would've walked out of there with a truck load of goodies. I did manage to bring home a couple of lovely items, including the colored vases pictured above, as well as a hanging deer head for my son's room. I even picked up a few items for clients. I am so happy that West Elm is finally in Utah. The catalogs and online images do not do most of the items in the store justice. Seeing everything in person made me love West Elm even more. What about you? Do you love West Elm as much as I do?

PS - Thank you to everyone for their sweet comments on my Anniversary Post, and to those of you that have already entered my E-Design Giveaway. If you haven't entered yet, this is the last day to enter. The winner will be posted tomorrow. :)

Land of Nod Loveliness

I received the new Land of Nod catalog in the mail last week and I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. There were so many fun and unique furniture and decor items on the pages. Land of Nod has long been a destination for outfitting Kids' Rooms, but many of the items in the new catalog could easily make their way into any room in a home.

Although this faux bois comforter is darling for a boy's room, with the right accent pillows and styling, it could be really fun in a guest room as well.

I love the lines of the Monarch Dresser.
Just add this gold lamp is sure to glam up any space in your home.

How fun would this Aztec Rug be in a bright, welcoming entryway or a colorful kitchen?
Group four of these mirrors on a wall for an instant focal point.

Following the trend of other "Big Box" retailers, like IKEA and West Elm, Land of Nod has really stepped up its' game when it comes to their product offerings. What do you think? Would you shop Land of Nod for your own home?

Pretty Party Supplies...Where to get them!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We are back from our little trip to San Francisco. A wonderful time was had by all! Now I just have to gain the motivation to unpack and make my way through the many mounds of laundry that await me! Have I mentioned how much I hate laundry? I do...I'd much rather clean a bathroom...I really dislike it.

On another note, today happens to be my hubby's birthday! He turns 34 today. He has a twin sister, so we will be heading out with his family tonight to celebrate their birthday! The next couple of months will be full of celebrations around here. Both of my daughters will be having birthdays, my man and I will be celebrating 12 years of marriage and the biggest party will be in honor of my oldest turning 8 and getting baptized. In our faith, children are baptized at age 8 or after. I can't believe she is almost 8!

All of these wonderful occasions have had me scouring the web for fabulous party supplies...something a bit more unique than what you find at your local party supply warehouse. I'm so impressed with the wonderfully unique and affordable options out there. Here are a few of my favorite web based party retailers...

There's a lot of buzz about this "sweet" little shop all around the web and especially on Pinterest, but can you blame us? Shop Sweet Lulu has everything you need to create a classic and standout party. Offering everything from stripey straws to cake stands and candy jars, it is an absolute "go to" for your pretty party.

Polka Dot Market is another great site for darling party supplies. This shop is a great resource for a la carte party supplies as well as a place you can go to purchase items grouped together in one of their unique themes. The Ice Cream truck is from their Ice Cream themed party. So adorable!

In the Clear

In the Clear is a fun Etsy shop that carries unique packaging for all your party treats and favors. Just look at these super fun printed tubes that you can customize with your own message!

No party is complete without the perfect stationary and entertaining products and WH Hostess is the place to get them. This shop can customize and design your party invitation and even provide you with matching food labels, banners and cupcake toppers!

And finally, in honor of my anniversary and for all those bride - to - be's out there, (like my friend Sarah) I had to mention the uber fabulous BHLDN. This shop is a product of the people at Anthropologie, so you know it has the goods, like the Crinkle Fans pictured above. Marketed primarily to those taking a walk down the aisle, BHLDN, carries ultra chic, unique and whimsical, decor, wedding dresses, gifts, stationary and more. The price point is on the higher end, but if you are splurging on your big day...this is the place!

I hope you liked my little party supply round up! Do you have a favorite that I missed? If so, I would LOVE to hear about it!

Oh, one last thing! Happy Birthday to My Guy! You are loved beyond measure!
