Guest Post: E. Interiors - One Room Two Ways

Hello, Everyone! If you are visiting from E. Interiors, Welcome and Thank You for visiting! I'm Sita, an Interior Designer, Wife and Mother of 3, living just outside Salt Lake City, Utah. I work in Residential Interior Design and specialize in remodels and new construction. I am fortunate to work with amazing clients and have been blessed to do something I am truly passionate about. I am so happy to have the incredibly talented design duo of Megan + Dawn, from E. Interiors, here today. If you aren't familiar with E. Interiors, you definitely need to check them out. Their website and Instagram is full on inspiration and eye candy! When these two lovely ladies reached out to me and asked me to be part of their "One Room, Two Ways" series, I jumped at the chance. I had so much fun creating a Master Bedroom design using the two pieces of furniture they selected. You can head over to their website to see my design!

Hello and thank you so much to Sita for having us here today. We are so excited to share our room design with you. We are Megan + Dawn and we’re the mother-daughter team behind E. Interiors. We absolutely loved working with Sita on our One Room, Two Ways Series. The way the series works is we pick two pieces for a room and then we each build a room design around it. Sita and I have both designed beautiful bedrooms around this gorgeous bed and nightstand. We have created a Boho Glam bedroom with lots of rich navy blue and pops of pink to share with you today. A Beautiful Blush Retreat

As many of you know, my design style has a feminine flair. Many of you may also know, that I am a huge fan of interiors that are neutral or have a soft palette. So, you can understand why I fell hard for this room designed by the talented Anne Hepfer. This living room speaks to me. Perfect gray walls, tailored white upholstery, hints of gold, touches of texture and the perfect blush pink accents...this space has it all! 

The touch of blush in this space really sets it apart. Anne masterfully created a space that is not only completely gorgeous, but absolutely livable. Is it any wonder this room makes me swoon?!?

Hello! Today I am back to tell you about one of my new favorite online retailers for home furnishings and accessories, Kathy Kuo Home. I was first introduced to Kathy Kuo Home when they reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to collaborate with them. Let me be honest, I get many requests for collaborations from vendors and retailers, but I rarely, if ever, agree to them. After taking the time to familiarize myself with Kathy Kuo Home and upon seeing the amazing style of Kathy Kuo herself, I knew I couldn't refuse. Kathy Kuo is a talented designer who has worked has worked her magic on spaces for design enthusiasts and celebrities alike. She also happens to be one of the judges of FYI Network's design series, Rowhouse Showdown.  KKH is her online retail site where she has used her discerning design eye to curate a collection of furniture and accessories from some of the top brands used by designers. Best of all, it is all available to you, allowing you to bring a designer look right into your home. You just have to love that!

Local Client Project Reveal: Baby Girl Nursery

 Hello, Friends, I hope you had a great weekend. I'm back today to share with you one of my latest projects, a beautiful nursery for a very special baby girl.

Since I first showed the design board and a little peak of this project on Instagram, I have received many comments expressing excitement to see the full reveal of this nursery. I too, have been excited to post this completed room, but there were some events that took place this past week which made me question whether or not I should post and share this particular project. With permission from the family of my client, who has become a very dear friend, I am sharing her story.

I first met my client when she contacted me about helping her makeover the family room in her home. As an interior designer, I regularly spend many hours with my clients and their families. I often get to know these families in a different way than others do. My clients let me into their lives and into their homes. Because of this level of exposure, designer - client relationships can often turn into true, meaningful friendships. That has been the case with this client and her family. I have come to love her and her family, consisting of her husband and 2 sweet little girls (ages 5 and 18 months). After designing her family room, she asked me to design her Master Bedroom. Again, I spent many hours in her home and with her darling children. You can imagine how happy and excited I was when she told me that she was expecting another baby. After she and her husband discovered they were expecting their 3rd baby girl, she asked me to design a nursery for their new addition. I got right to work. I presented her with this design board.

She loved it! Products were ordered, walls were painted and wallpaper installed. Things were moving along well.  On a Tuesday, I checked in on my dear friend and the nursery. She was overdue and would be going to the Hospital the next morning to have her baby girl. Her sweet baby was born the next evening. Both Mom and baby were doing great! They were discharged from the hospital and returned to their home 2 days later.

It was 2 days after that, on Sunday evening, that things fell apart. No one had any idea, but my friend had suffered some complications, either during her pregnancy or her delivery, we are still not sure, and she was stricken with a heart attack 4 days after she gave birth. 911 was called and she was taken to a local hospital and was then life flighted to a larger hospital. Through a series of miracles, her life was spared. She is currently still in the hospital in the ICU and has a long road ahead of her. Her heart was severely damaged from the heart attack and she also has a tear in her aorta. She will likely need a heart transplant in the future. She will be in the hospital for quite sometime, but she is a fighter. The strength, courage and faith she has displayed over the past week is remarkable. She is such an amazing woman! I know she will be coming home and be reunited with her Husband, daughters and her sweet new baby girl soon.

I'm sure you can understand why I wasn't sure if I could or wanted to share this nursery with you. So why did I? I knew that my client had planned on having her baby's newborn pictures taken in the Nursery. I know how excited she was to see the nursery complete and to have me share it with you. This past week, her sister and I worked together to make sure that the Nursery would be absolutely perfect for the newborn pictures. On Saturday morning, I had the privilege of being there as the photographer took pictures of my friend's little angel.

My sincere hope is that this nursery, and the newborn pictures taken, help bring some joy to my dear friend during this time. I hope that she knows how much we love her. I hope she knows how many prayers have been said for her and her family. I hope she knows that her Father in Heaven is aware of her and her family and is watching over them. If you are willing, I also ask you to pray for her as well. I can't wait for the day that she is able to come home and rock her baby girl in this new nursery.

What I love about this is that it makes good design truly accessible to everyone, even if you can't hire a designer. Recent E-Design Work

I have been blessed with a steady stream of E-Design business lately. I thought it would be fun to share with you a couple of recent E-Design boards that I put together for a couple of clients.

This board was created for a client that wanted a neutral, sophisticated Master Bedroom, with just a hint of color...

These next two E-Designs were for a client that asked me to help her makeover both her family room and adjacent dining area. She has a young family and wanted a fun, yet elegant feel to the space and she knew she wanted aqua blue into both of her rooms...

Both of these clients were amazing to work with. I have asked them both for "after" pictures, so I will definitely share them with you when I get them.

E-Design is such a great, affordable way to have a designer help you pull together space that may be troubling you. The best part is, that after you have the design in hand, you can purchase the items from it at your pace and as your budget allows. Dining Room Design Board

I've recently been helping a local client update her dining room. She already has a black dining table that she wants to keep, so I incorporated it into the design. I showed her a picture of the hutch and she fell in love with it. It became the jumping off point for the rest of the design. Here is the design board I came up with.

The drapery fabric is gorgeous in person! We will also add some artwork and possibly some sconces to one of the walls. A few of the pieces in this room are definite investment pieces, but I think they are well worth it. We managed to keep the price tag of the room in check by choosing other items with lower price points. She is not ready to pull the trigger on all of the items yet, but I can't wait to see how the room comes together when she finally does!

PS - I am waiting anxiously for the UPS man to knock on my door with the hardware for my Rast Hack...so excited!

Room E-Design Giveaway!

I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone and that it is almost time to celebrate the New Year! We had a wonderful Christmas full of family, food and fun! Santa even rewarded me with the new camera I had been asking for...now I just need to figure out how to use it!

For those of you that are unfamiliar with the E-Design service, it essentially gives you the opportunity to have me design a room for you, no matter where you live, via the Internet and email. After receiving some pictures of your space, along with some basic information from you about your style, budget, etc... Office Overhaul

I am currently working with a client to design a few different spaces in her home. One of the rooms she wanted me to help her tackle was her home office. It is pretty much a blank slate, except for a black desk, which will remain in the room. We are also going to keep the wall color because her home has an open floor plan that does not allow for a good starting/stopping point for paint. Essentially, if you want to paint one room, you have to paint the whole main floor...not an option.

She wanted to her office to be feminine and fun. Plus, she loves the color turquoise, along with all it's relatives (teal, aqua, robin's egg blue), so some shade of it, has made it's way into each room I am designing for her.

Like I said...a blank slate...with exception of the gorgeous wainscoting .
