My Daughter's Bedroom Makeover Reveal

Today I'm excited to share the bedroom makeover I gave my oldest daughter's bedroom. Her room before, had a soft color palette and was very representative of her at 8 years old. Almost 5 years later, she was ready to update her room to make it a space that is reflective of her, now, as she enters her teenage years. We talked about how she envisioned her new room looking and she told me her only requests were more color and elephants. Apparently, she is obsessed with elephants right now! I was not sure how I would incorporate elephants into her space, but I promised her I would try. I decided I wanted to wallpaper the interior of the trimmed out box, behind her bed. She loved that idea and we began searching for the perfect pattern. When we stumbled upon this floral beauty, we knew it was the right choice. I used it as the jumping off point for the rest of the design. Take a look at how the space came together.

A larger dresser with more storage space was a must for my little fashionista!

Elephant accessories make my girl happy.

I picked this fun yellow and white fabric for the custom made bed skirt.

Custom blue and white drapery, helps finish off the space.

I added pin board with a cool, retro vibe for her to hang pictures and notes on.

The Indigo Kantha quilt gives the space a little hint of bohemian flare.

The new brass swing arm sconces provide the perfect lighting for by bookworm's nightly reading.

Elephant bookends that are cute and chic!

My daughter's newly transformed space truly reflects her personality. As she is maturing, she is coming out of her shell and I am seeing this fun, silly, outgoing and vibrant personality starting to emerge. I loved my daughter's old room, but what I love about the changes we made is that she feels at home in her new room. Nothing make me happier than knowing she and I created a space, together, and that she loves every inch of it. :)

Client Project Reveal: Harvey Project Shared Girls' Bedroom

I'm so happy to be sharing this sweet Girls' Shared Room from the Harvey Project. I have had the opportunity to work with these clients over the last 3 1/2 years, transforming different rooms in their home. You can see the Family Room, Master Bedroom and Nursery reveals in past posts on the blog.

Since Mom, Dad and Baby Sister's rooms were already done, it was time for the 2 older sisters, ages 4 and 6 to have their shared bedroom transformed into a fun, functional space that will be age appropriate for years to come. Since my client's are little girls, you can bet that pink and purple was on the wish list for their new room. Their Mom and I worked together to make sure their new room felt youthful, but not overtly childish. I used art, textiles and furniture that incorporated the pink and purple color scheme in an updated and more mature way. The result is a pretty shared room that is perfect for these two sweet sisters, now, and for years to come. Take a look.

I wish you could have seen the reaction the girls had to their new room! They love it and that is what makes me the most happy!

Sita Montgomery Interiors: The New Fork Project Bunk Room and Bathroom

As promised, today, I am sharing the full reveal of the Bunk Room and adjoining bathroom from the New Fork Project. This may very well be my favorite room in the house. My clients wanted a room specifically designed for their grandkids. A bunk room seemed like the perfect place for my clients' grandkids to gather together when they were visiting. When designing the bunk room, I wanted to make sure that the bunks were fully integrated into the space. We were lucky enough to have space to to have 2 twin bunks on top with two queen size bunks on the bottom. The ship lap detail was extended from the bunks to the three other walls. The dark stained accents allow this bright white room to still feel cohesive with the rest of the home. I finished off the space with camp inspires lighting, linens and art, making it a true children's haven. I have to add the Shane, Cameo Homes' finish carpenter, is a true master at his craft. He took my vision and turned it into a beautifully hand crafted reality. Take a look.

The bunk room bath was also designed with the kids in mind. The trough sink is one of my favorite elements. The lighting and tile selections are a sophisticated take on the campy theme in the bunk room. The large tub/shower combo with sliding glass doors on a barn door track is perfect for big and little kids alike.

Wouldn't you love to spend time in here if you were still a kid? My clients sure have some lucky grandchildren. When they come to visit, they will never want to leave!

Come back tomorrow to see the Basement Family Room and Kitchen!

Sita Montgomery Interiors Client Project Reveal: The Primrose Project Teen Girl Bedroom

For the last 6 months, I've been working on a local remodel project, which I've named the Primrose Project. If you follow me on Instagram, you've likely seem me share some progress shots from this project. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing the finished spaces in this home. The homeowners have been living in their home for about 6 years. They absolutely love their neighbors and their neighborhood, but never really loved their home. The home was financially a great deal, but it wasn't ideal. After 6 years of living in their home, my clients decided it was time to transform their house into the home they have always dreamed of an desired. They also believed in "going big or going home," so we didn't just remodel the the top two floors of the house, we also decided to remodel the entire exterior. More on that later. The main floor was taken to the studs, and the upstairs was transformed into a haven for their two girls, ages 16 and 7. My clients also have 3 boys, ages 12, 9 and 18. Prior to the remodel their 3 three younger kids' rooms were located on the second floor, while the 2 older kids' rooms were in the basement. As part of the remodel, my clients wanted to move all their boys to the basement and let the girls have their own space upstairs. I was given the task of transforming the second floor, which consisted of 2 bedrooms, a loft, 1 bathroom and a bonus room.

Today, I am thrilled to be revealing the first of the transformed spaces on the second floor, the bedroom for my client's teenage daughter. This bedroom was previously shared by two of the boys. My client's daughter wanted a fun, hip bedroom that had a bit of a bohemian flair. I started by showing her several bedding options. After she selected, this one, I knew exactly which direction to take the design of the room. I started by designing a feature wall, which my insanely talented finish carpenters executed beautifully. The whole room was then painted Simply White, by Benjamin Moore. The space was finished off with with layers of colorful bedding, fun buffalo checked drapery, clean lined furniture and whimsical art and accessories The result is a fresh and fun room, perfectly fit for my clients' amazing and beautiful 16 year old daughter. Take a look.

Here is what the space looked like BEFORE:

And Now

I love this space and I know my clients and their daughter do to. I've been told that she and her friends love spending time in her new bedroom! If I was them, I would want to hang out in there too!

Stay tuned for more reveals from the Primrose Project. They are good, I promise. :)
